Another Vapid Mommy Blog Entry

Tae Kwon Do testing went fine yesterday, for all that my deadly-weapons-to-be were shaking in their bare feet beforehand. The 6th degree owner of the school said that my 11 year old did well enough that "She could choose to go directly to the black tipped color belt if she wished." Which means that she skipped forward to the next rank, which I didn't think they did, but who knows? Maybe I have TKD prodigies? Maybe she's got a gift in kicking and punching? Or maybe it's really not a big deal when you've only been studying a specific martial art for 3 months, although even in utero she was quite the kicker & puncher.

I'm pretty sure you'll never hear Master Sensei saying "You performed well. Please go directly from 1st degree to 4th degree black belt."

Liam going through his form. My camera picked up the glowing red eyes that came from his intense concentration and self-discipline.

Shea's turn. See how intense the audience is watching her? They know that soon John Woo will come calling, and are remembering this day as the day they saw her first.

Last week the kids both started training in weapons which basically means that they are being taught the most effective and efficient way of beating the shit out of each other. Each month they focus on another weapon, so soon they'll have an arsenal of fucking expensive foam covered staffs to choose from.

Can you do a lot of damage with a foam-covered staff?

Hey, they sure look deadly, anyway!

So let me make sure I understand this clearly, you're going to voluntarily give Liam and Shea foam weapons? Good luck with that :p

Oh no...

No, it's not voluntary. That implies some form of altruism. We are PAYING a shitload for them to have foam weapons.
